Quick: Which is the more fashion-forward town, New York or Tuba City?
Seems like a no-brainer, but this Saturday you’d have to say Tuba City.
People attending the Indigenous Expressions fashion show at 1 p.m. at the Tó Nanees Dizí Shopping Center will get a glimpse of a collection New Yorkers will have to wait nearly a year to lay their eyes on.
Shayne Watson, whose designs have been in the Women of the Navajo calendar, will be featured at Fashion Week in New York next September.
Another designer to be showcased in Tuba City, Loren Aragon of ACONAV Designs, just returned from Fashion Week.
Will tiny Tuba be a letdown after the bright lights of the Big Apple? Not at all, said Aragon.
“I don’t care whether the show is big or small, I just love to get my work out there,” said Aragon, whose Navajo wife, Valentina, is his partner, favorite muse and the “NAV” in ACONAV.
