Diné is first Native to perform in Sundance concert series

The “Concerts at Sundance” series showcased a variety of musicians throughout the Sundance Film Festival in Utah. Among those performing was Navajo musician Pete Sands.




In a town known for its prestigious film festival, one could easily miss the music.

The Sundance Film Festival in Park City, Utah, concluded on Jan. 26. The hype, as always, was about the films, but the concurrent "Concerts at Sundance" series showcased a variety of musicians throughout the festival.

Even though the concerts are in no way affiliated with the festival, Navajo musician Pete Sands, 30, was honored to be able to perform as "Blackkiss" for the concerts.
