Navajo Nation police officer involved in shooting

WINDOW ROCK, August 17, 2013

ANavajo Nation police officer with the Shiprock Police District allegedly shot a suspect multiple times after being attacked with a knife while responding to a call, according to a source familiar with the incident who is not authorized to speak about the incident.

The incident occurred sometime between 9:30-10 Friday night at the Chaco River Apartments, which is located near the Northern Medical Center.

The officer and suspect were both taken to the hospital for injuries.

The Navajo police and the FBI are continuing with their investigations.
