Navajo Times poll on whether Johnny Naize should stay in office

WINDOW ROCK, Jan. 28, 2014

The Navajo Nation special prosecutor has charged Johnny Naize, Speaker of the Navajo Nation Council, with eleven criminal counts of bribery and conspiracy for allegedly misusing discretionary funds in excess of $32,000.

Because of these charges, Delegate Alton Joe Shepherd sponsored legislation to remove Naize as Speaker.

The Office of the Speaker and his supporters claim his due process rights are being violated with Shepherd's bill and that he is considered innocent until proven guilty.
