A Navajo police officer closely keeps watch on two men who lie handcuffed on the ground early Wednesday morning after executing a search warrant in Shiprock.

About 20 Navajo police officers served a search warrant on a Shiprock house early Wednesday morning, arresting one person on drug and weapon charges.

Arrested was Felipe Jones, 35, who was charged with distribution of meth and possession of a stolen firearm. He was taken to the San Juan County Jail and turned over to federal officials.

Gilbert Yazzie, supervisor of the police department's Drug and Gang Unit, said the investigation of Jones began on Jan. 11 when a Navajo police unit was broken into and an AR-15 rifle was stolen. The investigation revealed that Jones was seen with a handgun a short time later.
