The event kicked off with a meet and greet session from 4:30 to 5:30 p.m., in which candidates will meet with the public. The forums will begin promptly at 6 p.m. and will be broadcast live on AM 660 KTNN and FM 94.5 KWRK.

The remaining four forums will be held at various locations across the reservation.

The second forum was staged at Greyhills High School in Tuba City, Ariz. on Monday, June 23 from 6 to 9 p.m.

The third presidential candidates forum will be held at the brand new gymnasium on the campus of Navajo Technical University in Crownpoint, N.M. on Monday, July 21, from 6 to 9 p.m.

According to Tom Arviso Jr., publisher of the Navajo Times newspaper, “The Navajo Times and KTNN-KWRK are proud to host these presidential candidates forums for all people, friends and relatives of the Navajo Nation. There is no admission fee and everyone is urged to attend and see and hear what the Navajo presidential candidates have to say about important issues and concerns that affect the daily lives of the Navajo people, as well as their future.

“These five Navajo presidential candidates forums will provide an opportunity for all potential Navajo voters to hear and see the candidates live, in-person, and to help you make a solid choice when you go to voting booths on Aug. 26 for the tribal primary election.”

ONLY candidates who have been certified by the Navajo Elections Administration will be invited to participate.

All delegated media representatives or public relations persons for each Navajo presidential candidate should contact Tom Arviso Jr. for more information, forum guidelines and rules, and confirmed dates and locations. Arviso can be reached by telephone at 928-871-1130 or by email at:tarviso@navajotimes.com
