After six long days of battling the blaze that has conquered an estimated 13,253 acres of the Navajo Nation, fire officials still have no containment of the Assayii Lake Fire.

With around 686 fire personnel in the Choosghai Mountains as of Wednesday, the Southwest Area Incident Management Team 3 is far from giving up.

"This fire is now my responsibility," said Bea Day, Incident Commander for the Southwest team, Tuesday morning during a briefing to the public at the Fort Defiance Field House. The SWA Incident Management Team 3 took over the Assayii Lake Fire Monday morning.
