It's official. The charge against former Navajo Nation President Joe Shilrley Jr. are now history.

Window Rock Judge Carol Perry has signed off on the request made by special prosecutors of the Navajo Nation recommending that the charges against Shirley in the discretionary fund case be dismissed.

The special prosecutors decided not to go ahead with the case after interviewing Shirley last October. In that interview, Shirley, according to the special prosecutors, answered all of their questions and promised to cooperate fully.

The special prosecutors had already decided, they said, to drop the investigation into allegations that Shirley benefited personally from the deals the tribal government made with owners of OnSat and BDCS.

With Perry's agreeing to the dismissal, Shirley, for the first time in four years, is not facing any tribal investigation.
