Thoreau man ejected from vehicle in rollover

GALLUP – On Nov. 11, at approximately 6:23 a.m., New Mexico State Police, from the Gallup District, responded to a single vehicle rollover on Interstate 40, milepost 63, near Gallup.

The male driver was ejected and succumbed to his injuries on scene. He has been identified as Tyran Brown, 20, of Thoreau, N.M., according to a news release from the New Mexico Department of Public Safety.

Preliminarily, it appears the vehicle was traveling eastbound on I40 when the vehicle drove off the roadway onto the center median. This caused the vehicle to go into a side skid, ultimately rolling over.

Alcohol does not appear to be a contributing factor. Brown was not using his seatbelt.

This investigation remains ongoing.
