Court hearings still set in slush fund cases

WINDOW ROCK

The special prosecutor for the Navajo Nation is still looking at criminal trials against a few other former tribal officials in connection with the discretionary fund investigation.

While there are attempts being made to get plea agreements with all of the remaining defendants, court hearings are still being held.

A status conference is scheduled for three of the remaining defendants on Oct. 28 – Orlando Smith-Hodge, Hoskee Kee and Laura Calvin.

Smith-Hodge and Kee were former members of the Navajo Nation Council and Calvin worked in the tribe’s legislative branch.
