Supreme Court to hear Deschene case

CHINLE – The Navajo Nation Supreme Court will hear oral arguments concerning whether Christopher Clark Deschene should be disqualified from running for Navajo Nation president because he is not fluent in the Navajo language, a court employee confirmed Wednesday.

The hearing is scheduled for 9 a.m. Friday, Sept. 26, in the Navajo Nation District Court in Tuba City.

The hearing is in response to an appeal filed Monday by former presidential contender Dale E. Tsosie, who had filed a grievance against Deschene with the Navajo Office of Hearings and Appeals.
