FORT DEFIANCE

Tate Tsingine is Tuba City Lady Warriors’ franchise player.

The Lady Warriors is built around Tsingine as she has made her presence known on both ends of the hardwood.

The 5-foot-11 junior post/guard has made an impact inside the paint, maneuvering around opponents with her cat-quick moves. She can knocked down baskets from the perimeter with her patented jump shot. She can also rattle the cages from beyond the three-point arc, too.

Utilizing her athleticism, Tsingine would start the Lady Warriors fast break after pulling off the rebound, many times taking the ball coast-to-coast.

In fact, she has been Page’s nemesis this year. She scored a season high 31 points last Friday against the top ranked team. Earlier this season, she knocked down 28 points two times against the Lady Sand Devils.

In two games against Window Rock, she tallied 26 points on Jan. 13 and then in their rematch last Saturday she poured in 22 points.
After guiding the Lady Warriors to a victory, Tsingine was crowned Tuba City’s Hoopcoming Queen at halftime.

Tsingine says her best game this year was against the Winslow Lady Bulldogs. She said she contributed in all aspects of her game.
“This not only included shooting, but defense, rebounding and passing,” she said.

Tsingine is averaging 22.5 points per game, pulling down 5.6 rebounds a contest, handing out 3.1 assists per outing, recording three steals a game and two blocked shots per contest. She scored a career high 36 points against Window Rock at the Winslow Winter Classic last year. She connected with 17-of-18 free throws in that game, which placed her in the top 10 in the state.
