Obituaries for April 20, 2017

Inez M. Morgan

GALLUP

Funeral services for Inez M. Morgan, 68, were held April 19 at Rollie Mortuary in Gallup. Interment followed at the Mariano Lake community cemetery in Mariano Lake, N.M.

Inez was born Aug. 30, 1948, in Crownpoint, into the Tábaahá (Water’s Edge Clan), born for Honágháahnii (One-walks-around Clan). She died April 14, 2017, in Albuquerque.

Inez completed the 8th grade at Pinedale Community School and was self-employed as a silversmith. Her hobbies included reading, silversmith work, and going to casinos.

Inez is survived by her husband, Ben B. Morgan; and daughters, Donna M. Leonard, Doradeen Frank, Carmelita Morgan, Melissa Morgan, Michelle Morgan, and Natasha Morgan.

Inez is preceded in death by her parents, Tillie Morgan and Frank Marianito; sisters, Sylvia Ridge and Irene Charley; brother, Frank Marianito Jr.; and son, Ben B. Morgan Jr.

Pallbearers were Donald Chee Frank, Damon Lee, Kyle Aragon, Ruben Estrada, Neollen Begay, and Donovan Sandoval.

Rollie Mortuary was in charge of arrangements.

Billy John

ST. MICHAELS, Ariz.

Funeral services for Billy John, 81, of St. Michaels, Ariz., were held April 19 at the St. Michaels Catholic Church with Father Jose Gutey officiating. Interment followed in St. Michaels.

Billy was born May 5, 1935, in Fort Defiance, into the Honágháahnii (One-walks-around Clan), born for Áshiihi (Salt People Clan). He died April 15, 2017, in Albuquerque.

Billy worked for the railroad, Navajo Water Development, and retired from P&M Coal Mine. He enjoyed ranching.

Billy is survived by his daughters, Joanne B. Peshlakai of St. Michaels, and Jolene Henderson of Tse Bonito, N.M.; brother, Bennie John; sisters, Mary Lizer, Ella M. Yazzie, and Ellen John; and nine grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Billy is preceded in death by his wife, Betty John; son, Thompson John; parents, Jimmy and Grace John; and grandson, Jacolby Honahni.

Pallbearers were Roderick Tsosie, Fernando Garcia, Benjamin Yazzie, Johnny Slinkey, Dalton Lizer, and Tyrone Arthur.

Honorary pallbearers were Bennie John, Alex Yazzie, and Joseph Peshlakai.

Silver Creek Mortuary was in charge of arrangements.
