Funeral services for Natalie June Conley, 53, will be held Friday, May 5, at Tse Bonito Mortuary/Cope in Tse Bonito, N.M., with Pastor David Hilderman officiating. Burial will follow at the St. Michaels cemetery in St. Michaels, Ariz.

Natalie was born June 14, 1963, in Fort Defiance, into the Tóaheedliinii (Water Flow Together Clan), born for Tsi’naajinii (Black Streak Wood People Clan). She died April 29, 2017, in Albuquerque, with her family at her side.

Natalie graduated in 1981 from Rehoboth Christian High School in Rehoboth, N.M. She was a passionate seamstress making many outfits for her children, nieces, and nephews.

Natalie was very creative in her sewing and was skilled designing just about anything her family requested. She received her associate’s degree in business from Parks College in Albuquerque. She also attended Northern Arizona University and the University of New Mexico.

Natalie was employed with the Navajo Nation, Indian Health Service-GIMC, Indian Health Service-Fort Defiance, Navajo Arts and Crafts, Oak Springs Chapter House, Blue Cross Blue Shield-Albuquerque, and was a caregiver to her mother.

Natalie is survived by her daughters, Shanidini Dotson of Phoenix, Chelsey Barton and Kristin Barton of Albuquerque, and Rochelle Begaye of Window Rock; son, Lyle Begaye of Phoenix; mother, Annette Conley of Window Rock; and brothers, Donovan Conley and Troy Conley, both of Phoenix.

Natalie is preceded in death by her father, Tom Conley.

Pallbearers will be Kyle Dotson, Marques Conley, Keanen Barton, Tyrone Collins, Francis Collins, and Kyle Barton.

A reception will take place at the St. Michael’s Chapter House following services.

Ramsey Michael Davidson Sr.

FORT DEFIANCE

Funeral services for Ramsey Michael Davison Sr., 71, of Fort Defiance, will be held today, May 4, at 10 a.m. at Our Lady of the Blessed Sacrament in Fort Defiance, with Father Gilbert officiating. Burial will follow in Fort Defiance.

Ramsey was born March 6, 1946, in Fort Defiance, into the Nát’oh dine’&eacutge; (Tobacco People Clan), born for Ma’ii deeshgiizhinii (Coyote Pass Clan). He died April 30, 2017, in Fort Defiance.

Ramsey graduated from Window Rock High School in 1966 and worked for ONEO Construction, supervisor at NFPI, saw-blade sharpener at Hozoni Construction, and construction supervisor at Fort Defiance Chapter House.

Ramsey served in Vietnam from 1966 to 1968 and was a member of the Twin Warriors Society. He enjoyed fishing, listening to KTNN, and attending his grandchildren’s sports events.

Ramsey is survived by his son, Ramsey Michael Davidson Jr. of Window Rock; daughters, Katherine Witman of Pinetop, Ariz., Alicia Santiago of Gallup, Katherine Cantsee of Sawmill, Ariz., and Angelisa Tsosie of Window Rock; brothers, Henry P. Davidson Sr., Alexander Davidson, and Alden Davidson, all of Fort Defiance; sisters, Caroline Begay, Kathleen Davidson, and Angela Davidson, all of Fort Defiance; and 20 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

Ramsey is preceded in death by Spencer Davidson, Katherine Davidson, Roslyn Davidson, and Genevieve Davidson.

Pallbearers will be Jeremy Jesus, Juan Jesus III, Ramsey Davidson III, Seven Cantsee, Xander Parker, Josh Witman, and Kyle Rodriguez.

Honorary pallbearers will be Ramsey Davidson Jr., Alden Davidson, Henry Davidson Sr., Michael Wauneka, Lyman Davidson, and Alexander Davidson.

A reception will take place at Fort Defiance Chapter House following services.

Martha Nelson Charles

MESA, Ariz.

Martha Charles

Martha Nelson Charles, 95, of Ganado, Ariz., passed away in the loving care of her family on April 28, 2017, at Banner Baywood Medical Center in Mesa, Ariz.

Martha was born May 1, 1921, in Birdsprings, Ariz. She attended elementary school in Leupp, Ariz., and enjoyed weaving rugs, traveling, visiting family, and trying her luck at the casino.

When Martha was home, professional wrestling was one of her forms of media entertainment and in her spare time she loved to read and do word puzzles. She was very devoted to spending time with her family, friends and grandchildren. Most of all, she enjoyed watching her grandchildren’s sports and activities. She will be greatly missed by her family.

Martha is survived by her children, Elsie Snell of Garland, Texas, James Charles of Devils Lake, N.D., Timothy Charles of Denver, Elaine Sombrero of Kayenta, Sam Charles of Phoenix, Earl Charles of Globe, Ariz., and Raymond Charles of Ganado.

During Martha’s lifetime, she was blessed with many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Martha is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Sam Charles; daughter, Dorothy Sam; daughter-in-law, Betty L. Charles; son, Anthony Charles; and grandson, David Chatea-U Stan Snell.

Michael Francis LaPointe

CHINLE

A memorial service for Michael Francis LaPointe, 39, of Chinle, will be held Saturday, May 6, at the Chinle Catholic Hall from 10:30 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Michael, or “Mikey” to friends and family, was born June 30, 1977, in South Dakota, into the Ta’neeszahnii (Tangle Clan), born for Oglala Lakota Rosebud Tribe. He died April 5, 2017, in Sacramento, Calif., after a long illness.

Mikey graduated from Chinle High School and attended Crownpoint Technical Institute. He was very artistic and created music videos and drawings. He enjoyed telling jokes, loved his family and friends, and was very supportive. He was an animal lover, a supporter of human rights, and a terrific dancer.

Mikey is survived by his father, Michael Monet LaPointe, of Sacramento; sisters, Cathleen Judy Lowe of Lakeside, Ariz., and Michelle Monet LaPointe of Sacramento; brother, Thomas Floyd LaPointe of North Dakota; aunts, Judy Attson of Chinle, and Sis LaPointe; uncle, Buddy LaPointe of Sacramento; niece, Twila LaPointe of Navajo, Ariz.; and numerous wonderful aunt-in-laws and cousins.

Mikey is preceded in death by his mother, Cecelia Lowe; maternal grandparents, Bessie Carroll and Thomas Attson; paternal grandparents, Eleanor LaPointe and Floyd LaPointe; uncles, Francis F. Ferguson Lynn Belone

FORT DEFIANCE

Funeral services for Ferguson Lynn Belone, 32, of Fort Defiance, were held May 3 at the Potters House Church in Fort Defiance, with Pastor Haven officiating. Interment followed at the family plot on Old Red Lake Road in Fort Defiance.

Ferguson was born May 15, 1984, in Fort Defiance, into the Tábaahá (Water’s Edge Clan), born for Tsi’naajinii (Black Streak Wood People Clan). He died April 27, 2017, in Manuelito, N.M.

Ferguson attended Window Rock Unified School District, Navajo Elementary School, Rough Rock Middle School, and Many Farms High School. He worked for BIA Forestry, Alon gas station, and Taco Bell.

Ferguson enjoyed spending time with his children, fishing, mechanic work, hauling/selling wood, riding horses, riding his dirt bike, and kept a smile on his face all the time.

Ferguson is survived by his wife, Nicole Peterson; sons, Angel Belone, Austin Belone, and Aiden Belone; daughters, Alanna Belone and Diamond Belone; parents, Sylvia Belone and Gilbert Yazzie; sisters, Sophina Belone, Sophie Belone, Christina Belone, and Albertina Belone; and grandmother, Mabel Belone.

Ferguson is preceded in death by his brother, Victor Belone; grandmother, Louise Benally; and grandfathers, Julius Belone Sr. and Albert Yazzie.

Pallbearers were Ivan Bahe, Derrick Tahy, William Curley, Clarence Archie Jr., Donavin Keeto, and Anthony Nez.

Honorary pallbearers were Cimmaron Begay, Louie Begay, Remo Begay, Jared Burbank, Brandon Upshaw, and Marc Watts.

Phoebe Scott Bitsoie

BIRDSPRINGS, Ariz.

Funeral services for Phoebe Scott Bitsoie, 95, were held May 1 at the Birdsprings Full Gospel Church in Birdsprings, Ariz. Interment followed at the family plot in Birdsprings.

Pheobe was born on Nov. 15, 1921, to Joe and Lena Scott in Birdsprings, into the Táchii’nii (Red Running Into the Water People Clan), born for çshiihi (Salt People Clan). She passed away April 26, 2017, at her home in Birdsprings. She was a homemaker and a weaver.

Pheobe is survived by her sons, Ray Bitsoie (Susie) of Laveen, Ariz., and Andrew Bitsoie (Ruby) of Leupp, Ariz.; and daughters, Lillie Bekay (Bobby) of Birdsprings, and Irene Bahe ( Earl) of Birdsprings.

Phoebe is preceded in death by her husband, Fritz Bitsoie; daughter, Julia Bitsoie; son, Freddie Bitsoie; mother, Lena Nez; and brother, Kee Scott.

Rose Ann Yazzie

MANY FARMS, Ariz.

Funeral services for Rose Ann Yazzie, 57, of Many Farms, Ariz., were held April 29 at the Latter-day Saints Church in Many Farms, with Bishop Rudy Yellowhair officiating. Interment followed in Chinle.

Rose was born Feb. 27, 1960, in Lukachukai, Ariz., into the Ta’neeszahnii (Tangle Clan), born for Naakai dine’&eacutge; (Mexican Clan). She died April 23, 2017, in Phoenix.

Rose graduated from Chinle High School and was a homemaker. She enjoyed doing puzzles and playing cards.

Rose is survived by her son, Bobby Yazzie Jr.; daughters, Roselyn Yazzie, Roberta Yazzie, Robbie Ann Yazzie, Rolinda Yazzie, and Roxanne Yazzie; brother, Valentine Harvey; sisters, Shirley Carroll and Shirleen Harvey; and 12 grandchildren.

Rose is preceded in death by her son, Bo Yazzie. Pallbearers were Presley Carroll, Alonzo Naize, Sanford Towne, Lambert Whitehair, Ty Towne, and Kyle Towne.
Honorary pallbearers were Julius Tabaha, Geno Plummer, Troy Begay, and Alton Yazzie.

Tse Bonito Mortuary was in charge of arrangements.
