Marantoinette Lynn Yazzie

TSAILE, Ariz. — Funeral services for Marantoinette Lynn Yazzie, 27, of Lukachukai, Ariz., will be held Friday, Sept. 9, at 10 a.m. at the LDS Church in Tsaile, Ariz., with Bishop Ralph Begay officiating. Burial will follow at the St. Isabel Church in Lukachukai.

Marantoinette was born Nov. 6, 1988, in Chinle, into the Bit’ahnii (Folded Arms Clan), born for Naakai Dine’é (Mexican Clan). She died Sept. 2, 2016, in Tsaile.

Marantoinette attended Many Farms High School and was a homemaker. She enjoyed drawing and listening to music.

Marantoinette is survived by her son, Omarian Ohi Yazzie; daughters, Mia Star James and Olina Star Williams; father, Anthony Bahe; brothers, Antonio Yazzie and Eric Yazzie; sisters, Heather Yazzie and Montana Yazzie; and grandparents, Rose and Max Clement.

Marantoinette is preceded in death by Caroline Davis, Martin Yazzie and Franklyn Yazzie. Her mother, Marilyn Yazzie, died the same day as Marantoinette.

Pallbearers will be Antonio Yazzie, Walter Clement, Martin Williams, Jonathan Yazzie, and Abraham Hammick.

A reception will take place at Lukachukai Chapter House following services.

Marilyn Ann Yazzie

TSAILE, Ariz. — Funeral services for Marilyn Ann Yazzie, 46, of Lukachukai, Ariz., will be held Friday, Sept. 9, at 10 a.m. at the LDS Church in Tsaile, Ariz., with Bishop Ralph Begay officiating. Burial will follow in Lukachukai.

Marilyn was born Dec. 31, 1969, in Chinle, into the Bit’ahnii (Folded Arms Clan), born for Táchii’nii (Red Running Into the Water People Clan). She died Sept. 2, 2016, in Tsaile.

Marilyn is survived by her sons, Eric Yazzie and Antonio Yazzie; daughters, Montana L. Yazzie and Heather Yazzie; parents, Rose and Max Clement; brother, Jonathan J. Yazzie; sisters, Emily Clement and Evelyn John; and 11 grandchildren.

Marilyn is preceded in death by Caroline Davis, Marklyn Yazzie and Franklin Yazzie. Her daughter, Marantoinette Lynn Yazzie, died on the same day as Marilyn.

Pallbearers will be Antonio Yazzie, Walter Clement, Martin Williams, Jonathan Yazzie, Dierson K. John, and Abraham Hammick.

James S. Tsosie

CHINLE — Funeral services for James S. Tsosie, 78, of Chinle, were held Sept. 7 at the Chinle Potters House with Artie Aragon officiating. Interment followed at the Chinle cemetery.

James was born April 22, 1938, in Salina Springs, Ariz., into the Tódich’ii’nii (Bitter Water Clan), born for Tl’ ááshchí’í (Red Bottom People Clan). He died Aug. 31, 2016, in Flagstaff.

James graduated from high school at Intermountain Boarding School and received journeyman carpentry skills in San Jose, Calif. He was employed and retired with BIA after 29 years of service. He was also a business owner of James Contracting & Subcontractors. He enjoyed livestock, crafting, building, and spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

James is survived by his brothers, Wilson Tsosie and Steven Tsosie; sisters, Susie Larson, Alta Curley and Rosita Stewart; and 15 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.

James is preceded in death by his parents, Ben and Tullie Tsosie; sister, Isabel Tsosie; sons, Jimmie Tsosie, Russell Tsosie and Leon Tsosie; daughter, Veldeena Tsosie; and great-granddaughter, Leilani Nolan.

Pallbearers were Stanson Yellowman, Stanton Yellowman, Martiseyo Yellowman, Maivyhn Yellowman, Joaquin Tsosie, Earnest Nolan, Roger Yazzie Sr., and Lowell Bahe.

Honorary pallbearers were Ajalaine Yellowman, Izrael Yellowman, Niqoiah Jones, Talava Jones, Marciano Bahe, and Maddox Llanez.

Ada Rose Smith

GALLUP — Funeral services for Ada Rose Smith, 87, will be held Friday, Sept. 9, at 1 p.m. at Rollie Mortuary in Gallup. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial.

Ada was born April 16, 1929, in Perea, N.M., into the Tsi’naajinii (Black Streak Wood People Clan), born for Nihoobáanii (Gray Streaked-Ends Clan). She died Sept. 4, 2016, in Gallup.

Ada was a homemaker, weaver and worked with Gallup McKinley County Schools. She enjoyed family and friends.

Ada is survived by her daughter, Margie Smith; sons, Clyde Smith Sr., Benjamin Smith, Raymond Smith, Ricky Smith, Phillip Smith, and Timothy Smith; sisters, Angela Largo and Marlene Chee; and brothers, James Harry, Vernon Harry and Timothy Harry.

Ada is preceded in death by her husband, Clyde Smith Sr.; son, Alfred Smith; and great-grandson, Wylde Hank Smith.

Rollie Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.

Harold B. Wilson

HOLBROOK, Ariz. — Funeral services for Harold B. Wilson, 73, of Indian Wells, Ariz., were held Sept. 2 at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in Holbrook, Ariz. Interment followed at the Holbrook cemetery.

Harold was born July 8, 1943. He passed away Aug. 29, 2016, in Payson, Ariz.

Harold enjoyed camping, fishing, playing board games, watching sports, and listening to oldies. Most of all he loved working with blocks and cement. He also enjoyed visiting family and being around livestock, especially horses.

Harold is survived by his wife, Joletta Wilson; sons, Faron Wilson, Larold Wilson and Shane Wilson; daughters, Karen Wilson-Morris, Shannon Johnson, Roxanne Wilson, Jayda Moran, Brittany Newton, and Taye Wilson; and sisters, Elvira Wayne and Rosebelle Dickson.

Harold is preceded in death by his parents, Ethel Wilson and Basil Bitsilly; brothers, Cecil Wilson, Harry Wilson, Phillip Morris, and Tsosie Yazzie; and sisters, Ethel Begay and Mary Keams.
