FRUITLAND

It seemed like a short 18 years ago when Corey Quigley and his sister Kristen played in their first basketball tournament.

Corey was 7 years old and Kristen was only 5, but they had a love for the sport that their mother Lisa Quigley said was undeniable.

“After that day, they fell in love with the sport,” Lisa Quigley said.

Today, they are ready to play basketball at the next level as Corey has signed to play for Haskell Indian Nations University and Kristen has signed with Scottsdale Community College.

Corey, who is now 20 and played two seasons for Tohono O’odham Community College, played for Valley High School and signed with the Jegos after graduating.

He said he’s excited to make the next move in his career, and is even more excited that he gets to continue playing basketball.

“I wanted to play for the Indians and represent Indians,” he said. “I have some family out there that I’m excited to see. I’m excited to play for a bigger school and a bigger town, just really excited.”
