Joe Thompson and family will be sponsoring a turkey shoot Sunday, Nov. 24, at the Chinle Rifle Range at 10 a.m. Top shooters (male/female) will receive a load of firewood and youth will receive jacket plus prizes every round (turkey to first, other prize to second). Gobble Time youth basketball tourneys

FARMINGTON -- The "Gobble Time" youth basketball tournament will be held Nov. 22-24 at the Navajo Prep gym. Divisions include 13-and-under boys and girls and 8- and 10-and-under coed. Entry fee is $120 per team. Format is double elimination tournament with one championship game. Awards to first, second and third place (all divisions) and all tourney and MVP (12 and under only). GALLUP -- The Thanksgiving open men's, open women's, and open 40-plus men's basketball tournaments are scheduled Nov. 22-24 at the Gallup Catholic gym. Team entry fee is $150 (8-person team roster for men and women). Tournament is double elimination (no "if necessary" game). SMITH LAKE, N.M. -- The 8th annual Tse Desh Chii Turkey Shoot is Nov. 23 at three miles west of Smith Lake Chapter on Route 11 at 10 a.m. Registration opens at 9 a.m. Categories include youth boys/girls, women, and men. Fee is $7 for three shots per event. Top gun award for overall winners. A Winchester 10 Gun Safe will be raffled for $10 per ticket. Raffle is open to participants and spectators.
