Seba Dalkai, Ariz. team roper Derrick Begay moved up three spots to No. 6 in the world standings after the first round of the Wrangler National Finals Rodeo in Las Vegas.

The six-time Wrangler qualifier posted a 5.0 run with heeling partner Cesar de la Cruz and tied for third place, which was four-tenths of second behind first-round winners Riley Minor and Brady Minor.

Montana cowboy Dustin Bird finished a close fifth with a 5 second run with partner Paul Eaves.

Rough Rock, Ariz. cowboy Erich Rogers turned in a 9.7 run as his heeler, Corey Petska, had some problems on his end by roping one leg, which cost them a five-second penalty.

The WNFR will resume tonight at the Thomas & Mac Center with second round action.
