It was a true heartbreaker.

That was the only way Tohatchi boys head coach Albert Jim Jr. could describe his team's 56-55 loss to Tularosa in the first round of the state tournament March 8 at Tohatchi.

The Cougars were seeded No. 8 in the tournament for the first time in a long time. But No. 9 Tularosa came to town and pulled it out from under them, ending the Cougars' season.

"It came down to last possession," Jim said. "Last possession we turned it over and their last possession they scored."
