Former rivals work together for all-star victory

For much of the basketball season, Kacee Begay and Hiram Gleason were rivals.

Begay played for the Wingate Bears while Gleason donned the jersey for the Shiprock Chieftains. Begay and Tohatchi’s Marcus Burbank were also rivals, as Burbank’s team played Wingate numerous times.

But at the New Mexico High School Coaches Association 2A/3A North/South Boys All-Star game, they put those rivalries aside and forged a bond to help the North team into a 104-61 victory on June 7 at West Mesa High School.
