Cowboys and cowgirls like Charmayne Gene and Robert Burbank have tried to earn championship titles at the Kayenta 4th of July Rodeo.

During the rodeo this year, held July 2-5, the two ended their long wait as Gene took home the trophy saddle in the ladies barrel-racing event and Burbank left as the saddle-bronc champion.

"It is everyone's goal to win this rodeo," Gene said. "To win a big Indian rodeo like the 4th of July rodeo, I'm just very proud."
