Want a night full of danger but to see it safely from the audience?
Here's your chance: On July 8, Navajo illusionist Myg Blade, 24, will attempt his most dangerous escape yet during a live show at Festival Park in Winslow, Ariz.
Blade, a Winslow resident, adds a new dimension to the local entertainment scene, which offers many musical acts and a growing cohort of comedians, but few if any practitioners of the magical arts.
Blade, who is Tábaáh (Edge Water Clan), born for Tsi'naajinii (Black Streaked Wood Clan), said he was introduced to performance magic when he was 7 and has been practicing the art of illusion for the past six years.
He has performed at numerous events throughout the Navajo Nation, including once as the opening act for comedy stars James and Ernie.
Blade said he looks at everything from all angles and with that ability, was able to figure out what other magicians were doing and then "I would add my version of how it was done."
Well, in most cases.
He's still stumped by the first trick he ever saw, which was performed by his aunt. She executed a card trick with a balloon where the cards ended up inside the balloon.
