The Navajo Transit Authority is looking at building a bus terminal in the Window Rock area.

The idea is still in the planning stages but transit authority officials say they are looking for funding and talking to officials for the Navajo Nation Shopping Centers and others about finding a site for the project.

Willie Tracey Jr., a planner for the authority, said there are two sites under consideration.

The first is near the west side of Basha's. The other is near the First American Credit Union east of Basha's.

Both of these are in a prime location because of all of the tribal buses that stop in that area to pick up and discharge passengers in the Basha's parking lot.

Tracey said buses on seven of the authority's routes stop there on a daily basis.

The terminal will provide a place for passengers to wait for a bus, find information (either from maps on the wall or from a transit employee who will be there to answer questions) about times and routes for the buses.
