T he Red Rock String Ensemble is offering a night full of music for free on May 4 at the First United Methodist Church in Gallup.
"We're a group of local amateur players who a number of years ago got together to play for fun," Director Bill Krzymowski of the Red Rock String Ensemble, but they didn't start playing publically until a member put them up to the challenge.
"We are in our tenth season," Krzymowski said. "We perform twice a year, a spring concert and a fall concert."
The upcoming concert will feature 12 members of the ensemble where they will perform classical music from various artists and time periods, including a seasonal piece Mozart Piano Concerto No. 19.
"It's an instantly likeably piece," Krzymowski said. "It's really cool music to play and listen to. I think it's a real audience pleaser."
Krzymowski said for the past seven years they have been able to bring in professional soloist to perform alongside the ensemble and this year, they will have acclaimed Navajo pianist Conner Chee perform.
