The special prosecutor for the Navajo Nation is planning to drop all charges against former Navajo Nation President Joe Shirley Jr. in connection with the misuse of tribal discretionary funds.

At the same time, the special prosecutor has made it clear that the investigation into OnSat and BDCS has been concluded with no finding of misconduct by Shirley.

The announcement was made on Tuesday by Shirley's attorney, David R. Jordan of Gallup.

"This concludes the special prosecutor's investigation of (Shirley)," said Jordan. "We are grateful that the Navajo people will finally have closure."

Shirley, in a phone interview on Wednesday, said he was glad this was finally over.
