Kamnryn Bennett officially signed his letter of intent on Feb. 5 to play football for the University of California at Berkeley.

Every time Kamryn Bennett walked onto the football field this season, he made a statement.

That statement was the fact that he is proud to be Diné having sported custom-designed cleats that read "Navajo" on one heel and "Nation" on the other throughout the fall season.

"When I am out there I am playing for the Navajo Nation, for my clan and my family," said Bennett, a senior at Centennial High in Peoria, Ariz. who has family ties to Kaibeto, Ariz. and is Tódich'iinii. "This is my heritage. It's who I am and what's kept me in the game."
