Area schools are jockeying for postseason position as the regular season begins to wind down.

Four weeks remain in the regular season. The power rankings from section play will determine Division IV and V's representatives to the state tournament, which begins Nov. 7.

Holbrook 40, Sanders Valley 28

Holbrook sophomore quarterback Cade Maestes turned in a stellar performance as he led the Roadrunners to a 40-28 win over the Sanders Valley Pirates.

Maestes rushed for 103 yards on 17 carries, scoring three touchdowns. Maestes completed 3-of-8 passes for 48 yards, one touchdown and one interception. He completed a two-point PAT.

"All year Cade has been our leader," said Holbrook head coach John Bokker. "He can throw the ball and he can run the ball. He is a strong quarterback." Danny Gonzales scored one touchdown, while rushing for 105 yards on seven carries. Lanny Newton-Pender scored one touchdown. Newton-Pender rushed for 74 yards on 11 carries.

Gonzales caught one pass for 31 yards and Scottie Gishie hauled on pass for 17 yards. For the contest, Holbrook had 344 total offensive yardage, including 296 on the ground and 48 through the air.

"We ran the ball well," Bokker said. "Defensively, we had some lapses. Our defense needs to step up. We have to stay healthy."
