As it is with every high school sport, the Navajo Times has compiled a list of top athletes for the 2013-14 winter season.

Considering the talent pool, picking the first, second and honorable mention list was a grind. Nonetheless we the Navajo Times sports staff believe that this is the most fair list we can come up with.

To help celebrate their achievements, the Navajo Times will honor the following athletes at an awards ceremony scheduled for May 5 at the Phil Thomas Performing Arts Center in Shiprock.

The Times will announce the players of the year and coaches of the year during the ceremony.

Players of the year will be selected from the first-team All-Star list of each sport. Finalists for coaches of the year include: Chinle's Charles Gover, Tuba City's Ryan Brown, Shiprock's Chester H. Atcitty, Laguna-Acoma's Ryan Piel, Window Rock's Mac Beach, Valley's Julia Six, Shiprock's Larenson Henderson, Ramah's Tucker Simmons, Holbrook's John Bokker, Monument Valley's Clyde McBride, Bloomfield's Greg Shoemaker, and Piedra Vista's Levi Stout.

More details of the event will be published in a future edition of the Navajo Times. All listed athletes are encouraged to bring their school uniform tops for a photo session. This event is free and open to the public. Photos and an article of the winners will be published in the May 8 edition of the Times.
