Expect the unexpected.

That is what Larry Peterson, the producer of the 21st annual Wild Thing Championship Bullriding, is proclaiming for his upcoming event, which will be held at Red Rock Park on July 11-12 in Church Rock, N.M.

The hometown show is considered by many the No. 1 open bull-riding event in the Southwest. The large-scale event will feature plenty of entertainment even for people who are new to the sport.

Each night, the event will feature a fireworks show, a prequalified wooly riding championship and the ever-popular Cowboy Poker, where some of the most daring individuals will play their hand as a raging bull is let loose in the arena.

"You don't have to be a bull-riding fan to be there," Peterson said, adding that the crowd is heavily involved. "There is something for everyone, whether you're two years old or 82 years old, it's just fun and exciting."
