The Navajo Nation Council has called a special session on Monday, Oct. 26, to consider a resolution to place President Joe Shirley Jr. and members of his staff on leave.
The resolution is termed an “emergency,” according to the proposed agenda issued by the speaker’s office today, Oct. 26.
If passed, the resolution also would refer reports on allegations and wrongdoing by Shirley and his staff regarding the failed business ventures involving OnSat and BCDS Manufacturing to the attorney general.
The attorney general would apply to the Window Rock District Court for special prosecutor.
The resolution, sponsored by Raymond Joe (Tachee/Blue Gap/Whippoorwill), is the only item on the proposed agenda.
The Navajo Times will cover the special session and post updates on Monday as events unfold.
