Last season, the Winslow Lady Bulldogs represented a Plexiglas ceiling for the Valley girls' basketball team.

The Lady Pirates played Winslow three times last year and each time they came short, including the epic battle in the Arizona Division III state title game.

Looking back Valley coach Julia Six said making the championship game was a learning experience since it was the first time her team made it that far into the state playoffs.

“It was pretty hard to swallow but after we lost I told the girls that if we were to do it again I would do a lot of things different," Six said.
