Shiprock, Chinle win D-Backs tourney titles

The Shiprock Angels and Chinle White Sox brought home championship trophies in the Single A and Double A divisions, respectively, during the 16th annual Arizona Diamondbacks Inter-Tribal Youth Baseball Tournament.
Shiprock edged Guadalupe Yaqui, 6-4, for the championship. Shiprock completed the tournament undefeated, 6-0. The Angels won pool 5 with a 3-0 record. Shiprock journeyed through the single elimination bracket with a 3-0 mark.
Shiprock blanked Salt River Sidewinders, 12-0, during its first game in pool play. The Angels posted an 8-0 shutout over the Outlawz in game two of pool play. Shiprock completed its pool play with a 13-0 win over Top Dawgz.
In first round of the bracket, the Angels posted a 5-1 win over Chui Chui Cowboys, advancing into the semifinals. Shiprock stopped the Chinle Warriors before winning the championship.
