BFC to vote on $115K for election reapportionment, internal chapter audit
WINDOW ROCK
The Budget and Finance Committee is scheduled to consider two pieces of legislation Tuesday, including one that would allocate $115,000 from the Unreserved, Undesignated Fund Balance to support the 2025 election reapportionment and early preparations for the 2026 tribal elections.
Legislation No. 0166-25, sponsored by Speaker Crystalyne Curley, seeks to fund the Navajo Board of Election Supervisors through the Legislative Branch to complete required work related to the ongoing redistricting process. The proposal also includes funding for unmet election preparation needs carried over from the fiscal 2025 budget.
A second item on the agenda, Legislation No. 0067-25, sponsored by Delegate Rickie Nez, would approve an internal audit of the Tse Daa Kaan Chapter and formally accept the chapter’s proposed corrective action plan.
The meeting will be presided over by Delegate Shaandiin Parrish, the Budget and Finance Committee chair, and Delegate Carl R. Slater, the vice chair, at the committee’s conference room in Window Rock. Members are also expected to vote on approving multiple past meeting journals from May through July.
No reports or old business items are scheduled for discussion.
The full meeting will be livestreamed starting at 10 a.m. on the Navajo Nation Council’s YouTube channel and available to the public on Zoom.
