The Newcomb girls basketball team made it a point to let everyone handle the ball. The five players on the court created some space as their passing and cutting led to some easy baskets on Saturday night as the Lady Skyhawks (3-0) defeated tournament host Shiprock in the championship game of the 2025 Jerry Richardson Memorial Tournament.

On Saturday, the top-seeded Bobcats (12-1) claimed its second consecutive 4A state crown with a 58-27 win over No. 2 St. Pius X Sartans (10-2) in a rematch in last year’s title game at the Nusenda Community Stadium in Albuquerque.
