The U.S. Office of Surface Mining Reclamation and Enforcement (OSMRE), Western Region, will hold an informal conference to discuss three proposed bond release applications under the Surface Mining Control and Reclamation Act (SMCRA). These applications were submitted by Peabody Western Coal Company (PWCC) and request the release of performance bonds and liability at various locations within the Kayenta Mine, located in northern Navajo County, Arizona.
The applications include:
• Phase I and II bond release on approximately 614 acres in the N9 coal resource area
• Phase III bond release on approximately 1,632 acres in the J19 area and 2,022 acres in the J21 area
• Phase III bond release on approximately 531 acres in the N14 area and 461 acres in the J16 area

NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING FOR THE N26 BIS II AH WASH BRIDGE REPLACEMENT PROJECT

The Navajo Nation Division of Transportation (NDOT) is proposing to replace the bridge crossing Bis ii Ah Wash approximately 7 miles west of Nazlini Chapter House in Nazlini, Arizona along Navajo Route 26 (N26). If the current bridge is not replaced, it will continue to deteriorate and may pose a safety hazard for emergency vehicles and trucks traveling along N26.
NDOT is holding a public hearing to present information on the project to local residents and other interested members of the public, and to gather public feedback on the project’s design. Written comments will be accepted at the public hearing. The Navajo Nation Division of Transportation (NDOT) is proposing to replace the bridge crossing Walker Creek approximately 3.1 miles southwest of Sweetwater/Tolikan Chapter House in Sweetwater, Arizona along Navajo Route 35 (N35). If the current bridge is not replaced, it will continue to deteriorate and may pose a safety hazard for emergency vehicles and trucks traveling along N35.
NDOT is holding a public hearing to present information on the project to local residents and other interested members of the public, and to gather public feedback on the project’s design. Written comments will be accepted at the public hearing.
