Attention: Native Americans across the nation — Indians, Alaskans, and Hawaiians, who served in the Vietnam War, my brother was killed by the North Vietnamese in 1967.

In a world where glass ceilings are still being broken, and various barriers are being breached here on our rez and elsewhere – as you are fully aware that our newly elected Navajo Nation president and vice president are very receptive to our needs, concerns, and issues.

Happy New Year to all the veterans who have served the nation honorably and those who gave the ultimate sacrifice defending Diné Bikéyah. Also, to the new administration, congratulations on winning the election.

My Bilagáana ancestors came to this land in 1634. With them they brought a diseased culture infected with ravenous greed and a blatant arrogance of superiority.

In early December, I visited Ft. Defiance, Window Rock, and Chinle. The last time I spent time with the Diné was when I was 9; I am 71 now.
