Lena A. Kee

GANADO, Ariz. — Funeral services for Lena Avis Kee, 79, of Ganado, Arizona, will be held today, Jan. 16, at 10 a.m., at the Presbyterian Church in Ganado, with Pastor Melva Whitehair officiating. Burial will follow in Ganado.

Lena Avis Kee, March 16, 1945 – Jan. 8, 2025

Lena was born March 16, 1945, in Ganado, into the Honágháahnii (One-walks-around Clan), born for Tsénjíkiní (Honey Combed Rock People Clan). She passed away Jan. 8, 2025, in Mesa, Arizona.

Lena attended Ganado Day School from 1952 to 1957 and Phoenix Indian School from 1957 to 1958. She enjoyed reading the Bible, attending Sunday church services and tent revivals, and watching the Dallas Cowboys play.

Lena is survived by her daughters, Maxine Tabaha, Vivian Tabaha and Candice Silversmith; and nine grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Honorary pallbearers will be Brandon Tabaha, Ian Begay and Lindsay Bowman.

A reception will take place at the Ganado Chapter House following services.

Clara M. Jones-Johnson

GALLUP — Funeral services for Clara Mae Jones-Johnson, 56, of Gallup, will be held today, Jan. 16, at 10 a.m., at Rollie Mortuary in Gallup, with Irving Nez officiating. Burial will follow in Tohatchi, New Mexico.

Clara Mae Jones-Johnson, Nov. 13, 1968 – Jan. 4, 2025

Clara was born Nov. 13, 1968, in Gallup, into the Kiyaa’áanii (Towering House Clan), born for ‘Áshįįhí (Salt People Clan). She passed away Jan. 4, 2025, in Gallup.

Clara attended Chuska Boarding School and worked as a caretaker, a maid, and at the Downs Casino in Albuquerque. She enjoyed cooking, listening to music, dancing, and spending time with her children, grandchildren and family.

Clara is survived by her son, Johnny Begay Jr.; daughters, Stephanie Begay and Tiffany Casias; brothers, Franklin Begay and Leroy Copi; sisters, Sadie Betsoi and Therese Begay; and 13 grandchildren.

Clara is preceded in death by her mother, Sarah Ann Jones.

Pallbearers will be Johnny Begay Jr., Tiffany Casias, Joseph Casias, Jeremiah Betsoi, Isiah Serfin, and Dennison Hoskie.

A reception will take place at the Twin Lakes Chapter House following services.

THOREAU, N.M. — Funeral services for Kassius Monsia Perry, 5, of Crownpoint, will be held today, Jan. 16, at 11 a.m., at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in Thoreau, New Mexico, with Bishop Rowllie officiating. Burial will follow in Thoreau.

Kassius was born April 2, 2019, in Fort Defiance. She passed away Jan. 3, 2025, in Bountiful, Utah.

Kassius was home school and loved Spiderman, dinosaurs, and listening to music. She loved the nurses, doctors, and other health care personnel.

Kassius is survived by her parents, Kelsey Perry and John Kevin Hoskie III; brothers, Loren Mescale, John Cameron Hoskie IV and Joaquin Hoskie; sisters, Khaleesi A. Juan, Jenna K. Hoskie, Juliet K. Hoskie, and Jaxs K. Hoskie; maternal grandparents, Monsia and Kathleen Perry; and paternal grandparents, Cheryl Peterson and John Hoskie Jr.

Pallbearers will be Loren Mescale, Joaquin Hoskie, Darrell Toledo Jr., and Preston Shorty.

Honorary pallbearers will be Calveston Delgarito, Derrick Toledo, Eric Dobey, and Josef Lewis.

A reception will take place at the LDS Church following services.
