Ruth Kent
PAGE, Ariz. — Funeral services for beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, Ruth Kent, 90, will be held Friday, July 20, at 10 a.m. at the Fourth Ward of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Page, Arizona. Burial will follow at the Page City Cemetery. Visitation will take place one hour prior to services.
Ruth was born Oct. 15, 1927, in Coppermine, Arizona, into the Kinłichíí’nii (Red House People Clan), born for Kinyaa’áani (Towering House Clan). Her cheii is Bįįh bitoodnii (Deer Spring) and her nálí is Tábąąhá (Water’s Edge). She passed away in her home July 14, 2018, in Coppermine.
Ruth was the eighth child, out of 12, born to Keith and Faye Lane. She married Edward Kent when she was 19 years old and, together, they had 11 children. Ruth and Edward were later sealed in the St. George Temple of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
As a lifelong resident of Coppermine, Ruth kept sheep her entire life and believed in the importance of maintaining sheep as a means of providing for her family and others. She was devoted to her family and always made time to attend the birthday parties, graduations, and weddings of her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
In raising her children, Ruth emphasized the importance of obtaining an education, knowing the gospel, and nurturing one’s family. Although her life consisted of many challenges, she always found a way to overcome obstacles through her faith, church work, family, and kind heart.
Ruth exuded kindness, generosity, and love to all she met. Her greetings always began with a heartfelt Navajo greeting, followed a warm handshake and a strong openhearted hug. She will be greatly missed.
Ruth is survived by her sisters, Rose Chewing of Cedar Ridge, Arizona, and Fannie Dele of Wildcat Peak, Arizona; children, Nona Slim, Anna Bennett, Lena McBride, Helen Kent, Arlinda Begay, Eddie Kent, Barbara Benally, and Diana Kent Juarez; and 29 grandchildren and 31 great-grandchildren.
Ruth is preceded in death by her husband, Edward Kent; sons, Curley Kent, Chester Kent, and Keith Kent; and five sisters and four brothers.
Micheal Cadman
YAH-TA-HEY, N.M. — Funeral services for Micheal Cadman, 69, were held July 17 at the Calvary Assembly of God Church in Yah-Ta-Hey, New Mexico. Interment followed at the family plot at the Cadman residence in Tohlakai, New Mexico.
Micheal was born July 26, 1948, in Gallup, into the Tódích’íi’nii (Bitter Water Clan), born for Kiyaa’áanii (Towering House Clan). His nali is Tábaahá (Water’s Edge); chei is Deeshchii’nii (Start of the Red Streak People). He died July 12, 2018, in Tohlakai.
Micheal graduated from high school and received an associate’s degree in welding and carpentry. He loved helping family members, joking around with everyone, and was a dedicated Redskins fan.
Micheal is survived by his daughter, Michelle Cadman; sisters, Janet C. Moore, Irene Leonard, Rose A. Tom, Annie R. Jones, and Jennie C. Gordon; brothers, Nelson Cadman, Emmett Cadman Sr., Jimmy Cadman, and Lorenzo Cadman; and four grandchildren.
Micheal is preceded in death by his mother, Alice R. Jones; father, Emerson Cadman Sr.; sister, Lorraine Y. Jones; and brother, Anderson Cadman.
Pallbearers were Roshern Cadman, JC Cadman, Damian C. Barney, Robert L. Barney, McKeever Tom, and Nelson Leonard Jr.

Larry Lee John
ST. MICHAELS, Ariz. — Funeral services for Larry Lee John, 57, of St. Michaels, Arizona, were held July 16 at the St. Michaels Church with Father Blaine Grein officiating. Interment followed at the St. Michaels cemetery.
Larry was born Oct. 25, 1960, in Fort Defiance, into the Tódích’íi’nii (Bitter Water Clan), born for Áshiihí (Salt People Clan). He died July 12, 2018, in Fort Defiance.
Larry graduated from Window Rock High School in 1978 and attended the University of New Mexico and Northern Arizona University. He worked for Navajo Communication and Window Rock Unified School District.
Larry enjoyed martial arts, wrestling, fishing, drawing, coaching, and music. He was a talented drummer and was a dedicated Redskins fan.
Larry is survived by his wife, Julie Marie John; daughters, Joy Michelle Gonzales and Nicole Marie John; mother, Annie L. John; brothers, Terry John and Lewis John; sisters, Louisia John and Louann Marquez; and four grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Larry is preceded in death by his father, Lewis L. John Sr.; and Nicholas Lee John.
Pallbearers were Lewis John III, Kyle John, Billy John, Myron Bryant, Jarett Billy, Tim Marquez, Zachary Marquez, Victor Yazzie Jr., and Wally Whitegoat.
Honorary pallbearers were Terry John, Lewis John Jr., Glenn Haven, Floyd Haven, Adrian Haven, Randy Haven, Norman Yazzie, Chuck Yazzie, Jonas Yazzie, and Cody Sanderson.

Antoinette Joe Curley
KLAGETOH, Ariz. — Funeral services for Antoinette Joe Curley, 38, of Klagetoh, Arizona, will be held today, July 19, at 10 a.m. at St. Ann’s Mission Church in Klagetoh. Burial will follow at St. Ann’s Mission Church.
Antoinette was born Dec. 7, 1979, in Ganado, Arizona, into the Ma’ii deeshgiizhinii (Coyote Pass Clan), born for Dibélzhíní (Black Sheep Clan). She died July 11, 2018, in Klagetoh.
Antoinette graduated from Holbrook High School and was a Navajo rug weaver. She loved reading books, farming, planting, drawing, baking, and weaving.
Antoinette is survived by her son, Noel Lee Curley; daughter, Rose Mary Jones; parents, Mary J. and Gene R. Curley; brothers, Eugene N. Curley, Nathaniel E. Curley, Geneme G. Curley, and Genemiah G. Curley; and sisters, Sophenina J. Curley, Michelle J. Curley, Samantha J. Curley, Sonya J. Curley, and Geannie M. Curley.
Antoinette is preceded in death by her grandparents, Juanita Joe and Sam Joe Bizaholonie.
Pallbearers will be Eugene N. Curley, Malik Baldwin, Freddie Baldwin, and Kirby Silago.

Donald Bitah
GALLUP — Funeral services for Donald Bitah, 66, will be held Friday, July 20, at 11 a.m. at the Lighthouse Church in Gallup. Burial will follow at the Gallup City Cemetery.
Donald was born March 7, 1952, in Fort Defiance, into the Tódích’íi’nii (Bitter Water Clan), born for Tl’ógí (Hairy Ones/Weaver-Zia Clan). His nali is Kiyaa’áanii (Towering House); chei is Tsi’naajinii (Black Streak Wood People). He died July 15, 2018, in Kirtland, New Mexico.
Originally from Blackhat, New Mexico, Donald resided in Kirtland. He graduated from Gallup High School and worked for the Navajo Nation over 30 years as a truck driver. He loved watching his favorite NFL football team the Denver Broncos, and loved to be with his family and grandchildren.
Donald is survived by his children, Lavida Collins, Jovanna Bitah, Ivan Yazzie, and Donaldvan Bitah, all of Red Rock, New Mexico; sisters, Rose Bitah of Window Rock, Janet Etsitty of Albuquerque, Irene Bitah of Perkins, Oklahoma, Marietta Bitah of Phoenix, Roselyn Bitah of Gallup, Delores Sombrero of Tuba City, and Jurista Bitah of Blackhat, New Mexico; brother, Peter B. Yazzie of Rocky Point, New Mexico; and nine grandchildren.
Donald is preceded in death by his parents, George and Mary Bitah; and brothers, Arnold Bitah, Edward Bitah, and James Bitah.
Pallbearers will be Donaldvan Bitah, Ivan Yazzie, Derek Skeets, Zachery Skeets, Germaine Jones, Leondro Yazzie, and Donovan (Bo) Johnson.

Harold Johnson
THOREAU, N.M. — Funeral services for Harold Johnson, 66, were held July 14 at the Thoreau Church of God. Interment followed at the Thoreau cemetery.
Harold was born Oct. 6, 1951, into the Tsenabahilnii (Sleep Rock People Clan), born for Tó’aheedlíinii (Water Flow Together Clan). His nali is Deeshchii’nii (Start of the Red Streak People); chei is Tó baazhní’ázhí (Two Who Came to the Water). He died July 10, 2018.
Harold attended Thoreau High School and worked in construction and on a ranch. He was an artist who loved sketching.
Harold is survived by his mother, Louise Johnson; sons, John Johnson and Jeremy Johnson; and sisters, Florence May Barker and Norma May Thomas.
Harold is preceded in death by his father, Lawrence Johnson; and brother, Manuel Martinez.
Pallbearers were Richard Thomas, Mark Thomas Jr., Jeremiah Barker, Jermaine Barker, Steven Becenti, and Myron Wilson.
