Joan Miriam Ayze LittleLight

BRIGHAM CITY, Utah — A memorial gathering for Joan Miriam Ayze LittleLight, a long time resident of Brigham City, Utah, was held Feb. 7 at Myers Mortuary in Brigham City.

Interment followed at the Brigham City Cemetery.

Joan was born Oct. 1, 1937, in a hogan in Fort Defiance, to Lewis Franklin and Miriam Edith Clark Ayze.

She passed away Feb. 2, 2015.

Joan relocated to Brigham City with her family in 1954, where she graduated from Box Elder High School.

She worked for the Intermountain Indian School in Brigham for 29 years.

She enjoyed crocheting, attending powwows, visiting with family and friends, reading, and was a wonderful seamstress.

Joan is survived by her children, Curtis Tso of Brigham City; Richard Benson of Aburn, Wash.; and Sheila Benson of Carson, Nev.; and nine grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.

Joan is preceded in death by her parents, Miriam and Lewis Ayze; sister, Doris Mae Ayze Gardner; and children, Caroline, Craig and Jeffery Tso.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Myers Mortuary to help with funeral expenses.

Fidel Al Toledo

TORREON, N.M. — Funeral services for Fidel Al Toledo, 51, of Torreon, N.M., were held March 4 at the Torreon Navajo Mission Church with Paul David Skiles officiating.

Interment followed in Torreon.

Fidel was born into the Bit’ahnii (His Sheaves Leaf Clan/Under His Cover Clan), born for Tódich’ii’nii (Bitter Water Clan).

He died Feb. 26, 2015, in Albuquerque.

Fidel received his associate’s degree in welding in Salt Lake City, and was employed with Union Pacific Railroad.

He enjoyed welding, herding sheep, growing crops, and hunting elk and deer.

Fidel is survived by his sons, Rafael Toledo, Randy Toledo, Zechariah Montoya, and Orion Montoya; daughter, Adele Toledo; parents, Bennie and Dorothy Toledo; brothers, Lorenzo Toledo and Benjamin Toledo; and sisters, Bernadette Toledo and Marlena Waukazoo.

Fidel is preceded in death by his sister, Diana M. Toledo; grandmothers, Mary Castillo and Mae Castillo; and grandfather, Ray Yazzie.

Pallbearers were Timothy Toledo, Paschal Toledo, Michael Toledo, Justin Toledo, Max Sandoval, and Jaman Trancosa.

Honorary pallbearers were Bennie B. Toledo, Benjamin Toledo, Rafael Toledo, and Randy Toledo.

Daniels Family Funeral Services-Alameda Mortuary was in charge of arrangements.
