Richard Nelson Sr.
FLAGSTAFF — Funeral services for Richard Nelson Sr., 86, of Rock Point, Arizona, will be held Friday, Sept. 7, at 10 a.m. at the FlagNaz Community Church (3505 E. Soliere Ave.) in Flagstaff. Viewing will take place one hour prior to service at 9 a.m. Burial will follow at the Citizens Cemetery in Flagstaff.
Richard was born into the Tábaahá (Water’s Edge Clan), born for Tódích’íi’nii (Bitter Water Clan). His chei is Tsi’naajinii (Black Streak Wood People); nali is Tl’ízí lání (Many Goats).
He passed away Aug. 29, 2018. Richard is survived by his wife Ruby, three sons, three daughters, 10 grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren. Harrison Charley
CORNFIELDS, Ariz. — Graveside service for Harrison Charley, 58, of Cornfields, Arizona, were held Sept. 1 in Cornfields, with family officiating. A reception followed at the Cornfields Chapter House.
Harrison was born July 20, 1960, in Crownpoint, into the Ta’neeszahnii (Tangle Clan), born for Bit’ahnii (Under His Cover Clan). He died Aug. 29, 2018, in Flagstaff. Harrison was a self-employed rodeo cowboy, rodeo judge, general contractor, rancher, and rodeo sponsor. Harrison is survived by his wife, Ruthie Nez; sons, Carnell Charley and Harrison Charley Jr.; daughters, Crystal Charley and Nishoni Charley; brothers, Dicky Charley, Benson Mescal and Ron Mescal; sisters, Ethel Mescal and Rita Rose Norton; and 24 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Harrison is preceded in death by his parents, Nanapah Norton and Dennis Mescal. Pallbearers were Elvis Cayaditto, Blaine Cayaditto, Ervin Cayaditto, Ron Mescal, Tyreek Nez, and Odin Nez. Honorary pallbearers were Dicky Charley, Benson Mescal, Ron Mescal, and Vinny Smith.
Silver Creek Mortuary was in charge of arrangements.
