Johnny “Newt” Donaldson
TSE BONITO, N.M. — Funeral services for Johnny “Newt” Donaldson, 68, will be held Saturday, Sept. 17, at 11 a.m. at the Gateway Community Church in Tse Bonito, N.M.
Johnny was born Feb. 23, 1948. He passed away Sept. 3, 2016.
Johnny graduated from Window Rock High School and attended Safford Refrigeration School. He served in the Army in Vietnam and was a lifelong businessman. His hobbies included hunting, fishing, golf, roping, and spending time with family.
Johnny is survived by his wife, Connie Donaldson; sons, Shane Donaldson of Tse Bonito, Shawn Donaldson of Farmington, and Josh Donaldson of Chino Valley, Arizona; sister, Deborah Klein; and brother, Jimmy Donaldson.
Johnny is preceded in death by his father, Johnny Donaldson; and mother, Dorothy Uptain.
Donations may be sent to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital at 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
Berkley Grayson Gorman
ST. MICHAELS, Ariz. — Funeral services for Berkley Grayson Gorman, 42, were held Sept. 9 at St. Michaels Catholic Church in St. Michaels, Interment followed at the Ganado community cemetery in Ganado.
Berkley was born Feb. 14, 1974, into the Deeshchii’nii (Start of the Red Streak People Clan), born for Tsénjikini (Honey Combed Rock People Clan). He died Sept. 3, 2016, in Ganado.
Berkley graduated from Ganado High School in 1992 and later graduated from DeVry University with a bachelor’s degree in business. He had a talent and a great interest in cars, audio systems, electronics, and car repair, which led to his employment with Audio Express in Phoenix for many years.
Berkley was also an avid golfer and after moving back to Ganado, he missed the professional golf courses of the city. He recently played the Wagon Trail to Lonesome Pines Golf Course in Steamboat, and with his partner, Ronnie Tracey, they won the Rez golf tournament.
Berkley was also a writer of poems and short essays much of which explain his life views and philosophies. He was dedicated to helping the veterans of Ganado community in helping build a Veterans Wellness and Healing Trail in Hubbell Trading Post National Historic Site in Ganado.
Berkley had a zest for life, traveled through the U.S., and had many friends. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
Berkley is survived by his daughter, Shilah Gorman; stepson, Mathew Begay; sisters, Amber Gorman and Autumn Gorman of Ganado; brother, Asher Gorman of Mesa, Ariz.; father, Gordon Gorman; mother, Teresa Sells-Gorman; and numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, and uncles.
Berkley is preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Howard and Grace Gorman; and maternal grandparents, Cato G. and Mary E. Sells.
Pallbearers were Hansen Johnson, Jason Chee, Ike Johnson, Timmy Young, Ronnie Tracey, and Robert Arnold.
Rollie Mortuary was in charge of arrangements.
Herbert Hoover Tsosie Jr.
GALLUP — Funeral services for Herbert Hoover Tsosie Jr., 62, were held Sept. 14 at the Sacred Heart Cathedral in Gallup. Interment followed at the Sunset Memorial Park in Gallup.
Herbert was born Oct. 14, 1953, in Fort Defiance, Arizona, into the Bit’ahnii (Folded Arms Clan), born for Kiyaa’aanii (Towering House Clan). His nali is Kinlichii’nii (Red House). He died Sept. 9, 2016, in Albuquerque.
Herbert graduated from Window Rock High School in 1973 and completed one year of college at Arizona Western University in Yuma, Arizona. He played football and ran cross-country in high school. His hobbies included football, camping, traveling, and spending time with family and friends. He was well known for his sense of humor and distinctive maroon truck.
Herbert is survived by his brothers, Vernon H. Tsosie, Emerson D. Tsosie, Herbert H. Tsosie III, and Orville E. Tsosie; sister, Doris M. Tsosie; daughters, Latisha Reyna and Lavonne Yazzie, both of Albuquerque; and wife, Norma J. Tsosie of Gamerco.
Herbert is preceded in death by his brothers, Farrell Johnson and Marvin Tsosie; and mother, Frances Kinlichini.
Pallbearers were Eugene Leslie, Leighton James, Ivan Begay, Orville Tsosie, Emerson Tsosie, Pierre Tsosie, Pierson Tsosie, and James Paul Leslie.
Rollie Mortuary was in charge of arrangements.
Katherine “Kathy” Morris
WINSLOW, Ariz. — Funeral services for Katherine “Kathy” Morris, 67, were held Sept. 13 at the Maranatha Assembly of God Church in Winslow. Interment followed at the Page cemetery in Page.
Kathy was born April 24, 1949, in Winslow, to Hoover and Mary Schultz. She passed away Sept. 10, 2016, in Mesa.
Kathy loved to travel a lot with her parents. She was a homemaker and took care of her grandchildren.
Kathy is survived by her sons, Alvin Price Jr., Calvin Price, and Colton Morris; daughters, Kerrie Lane and
Jaclyn Morris; sisters, Geneva Sangster, Evelyn Mahkewa, Denise Molton, and Carmelita Jodie; brothers, Loren Schultz, Mark Schultz, Stephen Schultz, Harrison Schultz, Leo Johnson, Franklin Schultz; and five grandchildren.
Kathy is preceded in death by her father, Hoover Schultz; mother, Mary Schultz; and grandmother, Carrie Nez.
