Louisville superstar Jude Schimmel to conduct camp

Former Louisville guard Jude Schimmel will make a special appearance at Chinle Wildcat Den this Saturday, in an event sponsored by Sports Zone of Show Low, Ariz. and Tate’s Auto Group.
General admission for the event is $10 per person, which includes a girls and boys basketball game. The girls game tips off at 1 p.m. and the boys game follows at 3 p.m.
Schimmel, who was undrafted during the recent WNBA draft, will conduct a youth basketball clinic at 11 a.m. Fee for the youth camp is $50 per person.
A front row courtside seating VIP meet and greet will follow at 12 p.m. The cost is $25 per person.
A public autograph and book signing is scheduled for 3 p.m. on the concourse of the Wildcat Den.
Schimmel played alongside her older sister, Shoni, for three years at Louisville. The sisters are from the Umatilla Indian Reservation in Oregon. Shoni, who is entering her second year in the WNBA, was drafted No. 8 in the first round by the Atlanta Dream.
During her senior year, Schimmel averaged 7.5 points per game, handed out 3.8 assists and pulled down 3.4 rebounds a contest. She helped lead Louisville to a 60-52 win over South Florida in the NCAA Tournament that sent the Cardinals to their third straight Sweet 16. She scored six of her 13 points in the final 69 seconds during the victory.
