Bloomfield, Rehoboth Christian sweep POY, COY soccer awards

WINDOW ROCK – As one of Bloomfield’s best offensive weapon, senior Alivia Waite finished her prep career with 73 goals.

The Bloomfield striker was tabbed the Times’ Player of the Year for girls soccer. Meanwhile, Rehoboth Christian senior forward Morgan Arsenault earned the POY award for boys soccer.

For the 2024 season, Waite scored 28 goals, helping the Lady Bobcats to a quarterfinal appearance in the 4A girls state playoffs.

She was named the District 1-4A Player of the Year and at the end of the season she made the New Mexico High School Coaches Association’s Red versus Green All-Star Game.

Arsenault led Rehoboth to a quarterfinal appearance in the A-3A state playoffs. Arsenault led the Lynx with 14 goals and 11 assists in 16 games played.

Behind a 13-6-1 mark, Lynx coach Philip Frederiksen was tabbed the coach of the year for boys soccer.

The Lynx placed second in its home tournament in early September, falling to Silver by a 2-1 count in the finals of the Christian Jacquez Boys Soccer Tournament.

In district play, Rehoboth took third overall with a 6-4 record.

Like Rehoboth, Bloomfield advanced into the state quarterfinals of the 4A playoffs under the guidance of first-year coach Jarly Lopez, who earned the COY for girls soccer.

Bloomfield finished the season at 14-4-4 overall, which includes a first-place finish in District 1-4A as the Bobcats compiled an 8-0-2 record.
