Former Miss Indian World Kansas K. Begaye, 27, will be performing as part of the Opening Ceremony Night Performances during the Northern Navajo Nation Fair tonight at the Rodeo Grounds at the Shiprock Fairgrounds.
Her performance is not going to be the traditional song and dance type performance either. It is going to be different from what people are used to seeing her perform.
“I don’t want to really say what I will be doing but it’s going to be different,” she said. “It’s kind of top secret. It’s going to be different. You’ll just have to see.” She did hint at a featured performer and guest she will be bringing and that is AnTro, a Navajo rapper of Albuquerque.
She recently collaborated with AnTro and DJ Beeso in a music video featured on YouTube for the song “Momentum,” a single off of the duo’s “The Glittering World” EP.
“I’ve done several performances with him before,” she said, noting that he is an artist to watch. Begaye has sung traditional Navajo songs since she was 10 years old. She released her first CD when she was 16 years. For 17 years, she has traveled performed and shared the beauty of her Navajo people.
