‘Chizh for Elders’ brings warmth, hope to Ganado’s seniors

The cold air surrounds the small community of Ganado and with it come the challenges of finding warmth in the winter. Through their project, Chizh for Elders, Sage Memorial Hospital provides elders with chopped wood to keep them warm during the harshest months.
According to Jonathan Hubbard, the facility lead supervisor, and Trevaia Fowler, the lead patient care coordinator, the hospital staff started the effort together in 2023. Last month, during the Arizona Hospital and Healthcare Association Quality Awards luncheon, the team was announced as the winner of the 2025 Outstanding Patient and Community Impact Award.
