Volunteers help clean up Chinle in the ‘CAT’ initiative

PHOENIX – Volunteers in and around the Chinle community came together March 29 to take the streets and clean up excess trash and waste as part of the Chinle Attacks Trash initiative.

Over 50 local volunteers prepared with gloves, trash bags, and other equipment and spent the day picking up trash along roads, in ditches, and other areas where trash dumping was prominent. Spearheaded by the Chinle Chapter government, this growing initiative helped restore the natural beauty of the community and tackle illegal trash dumping, an underreported problem not only in Chinle but across the Navajo Nation.

“We’re calling it reclaim our community,” said Delegate Shawna Ann Claw, who represents Chinle.
