Eight graduates were recognized for completing the Navajo Nation Emergency Medical Service Academy during a ceremony on Sept. 4, 2025.

Each received a certificate for completing 210 hours of EMT Basic Training through the University of New Mexico Health and Science Center’s Emergency Medical Services Academy, the School of Medicine, and the Navajo Nation Emergency Medical Services.

The graduates are Camille Woody, Jenna-Jade Jackson, Katie Bia, Kimberly Manygoats, Raenelle Francisco, Shaiann Wauneka, Skyler Brown, and Vanessa Tsosie.

Some of the new EMTs had just finished a shift before heading to the ceremony, said Carol Nieto, the EMT instructor and coordinator. Nieto, who has been training students for more than 30 years, led the class over a 12-week course and has already taught two classes of recruits this year.
