Ace Hardware opens in Shiprock

SHIPROCK

A new chapter in local business development opened in Shiprock with the soft launch of a full-service Ace Hardware store owned and run by a Navajo family enterprise with deep roots in the region.

The grand opening is scheduled for May 30. The store will serve not only Shiprock residents but also the broader agricultural and rural communities across the northern Navajo Nation.

The store in the Shiprock Shopping Center next to Bashas occupies the former Navajo Arts and Crafts space. It is the fourth Ace Hardware franchise opened by the Lizer family, marking more than five decades of business involvement in the Navajo Nation.

Businessman Myron Lizer, the former Navajo Nation vice president, who manages the operation with his wife, emphasized the importance of bringing practical and affordable retail options closer to residents who often travel long distances for basic hardware needs.

“We’re extremely proud,” Lizer said. “Our family’s been in business for 54 years in some shape or form. This is our fourth Ace Hardware store. We are extremely proud of that fact. But we are also super excited for the residents of Shiprock.”
