Navajo Pride voluntarily recalls flour
WINDOW ROCK
A voluntary recall of bleached all-purpose flour was made by Navajo Pride, LLC due to possible contamination of salmonella.
“We got conclusive results on the 26th of March and we issued the recall on the 31st,” said Hal Thompson, acting General Manager of Navajo Pride LLC.
Thompson added that consumers have been contacted and told not to use the flour, but rather dispose of it or return it for a refund.
The flour could be contaminated with salmonella after routine tests were run on a 5-pound sample bag according to a press release from Navajo Pride.
Thompson said tests can be run daily, weekly or monthly.
The cause of the contamination is still under investigation and the company is fully cooperating with the U.S. Food and Drug Administration and with the Safe Quality Food Institute, he said.
As far as the company, there have been no reports as of yet on anyone catching the sickness.
