Jeff baptized by fire by GMCS board
GALLUP
The Gallup McKinley County School Board threw their newest member straight into deep water at their meeting on Monday at the Student Support Center in Gallup.
After taking her oath of office as the meeting began, former state senator Sandra Jeff got an update of some district issues on the surface, under the surface, and in depth as the agenda progressed.
The public comment period included various issues from the parents and professionals in the community.
New Mexico State Sen. George Muñoz (D-Dist. 4) had requested a spot on the agenda by announcing a bill that seemed targeted at Jeff.
Jeff had taken the vacated space on the board over in a 3-1 vote by the board members. Muñoz aired an issue with the process of existing board members approving new additions, and said he planned to introduce legislation to change that.
